Marine science is a passion and a hobby in my life. I originally bought this textbook for my own interests in high school. I participated in the National Ocean Sciences Bowl and used this textbook to help me prepare. I found this book very engaging.. I finished the full textbook on my own free time. It wasn’t “homework†and if you can read an entire textbook just because you enjoy it, you know it’s a good read that can keep your attention. The photographs are excellent! The graphs and charts make things easy to understand if you’re a visual learner. I majored in marine science in college and when I started as a freshman this book was actually the required text for one of my classes. I was happy to have already been through the entire book.. giving me a big advantage during my class. Wonderful academic resource and honestly just a fun read if you’re a serious hobbyist.
I rented this textbook for my oceanography class. The book has a lot of good information and is very descriptive. I was surprised to find a lot of information on the sides of the pages that were linked but not directly related. The book also had a lot of graphs and pictures that helped support data and information. It was definitely a good book that helped a lot throughout the course.
DO NOT rent or buy this book if you need the access code. You can only get access code if you buy it for the outrageous price. Love how they have these ridiculous prices for students.
This is a great both for anyone interested in oceanography. I had taken many oceanography classes when I was in college, I bought this book just as a refresher. The fourth exceeded my expectations for my purposes for having a reference to the basic oceanography fundamentals.
I recently listened to several lectures for book's author where he referenced several sections of this book. After I got home from my trip I sent off for this book and have been reading it. I have learned a lot about the oceans and their impact on our planet. It has been absolutely fascinating.
Comprehensive, beautifully written, fascinating and easy to read. Each chapter unfolds logically from the previous. Every student/person should study this topic! An excellent book.
This book has a rental option and claims to have the Pearson EBook Access card which is does not have and did not bring with it.
I had to take this course in college and had no background going into it. We had to buy this book for the course and reading it definitely helped me with understanding it more.
